This June of 2014, Brazil will pay host to the FIFA World Cup 2014 – one of the most awaited and most exciting competitions on planet earth. The image no. 12 below shows the official logo of FIFA. This official emblem forms the cornerstone of the event’s brand identity. This logo was very carefully selected.

FIFA and the Brazil Local Organizing Committee (LOC) invited 25 best agencies of Brazil to submit their designs for the official emblem of 2014 World Cup. More than 125 submissions were received which were then inspected by FIFA and LOC and which were then shortlisted and submitted to the judging panel.

The judges of the panel were largely selected from Brazil itself. This included one of the most influential figures in modern Brazilian architecture, Oscar Niemeyer, designer Hans Donner, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, author Paulo Coelho, singer/actress Ivete Sangallo as well as two leading figures in the football world Ricardo Teixeira (President of the Brazilian Football Federation and President of the Brazilian Local Organizing Committee) and Jerome Valcke (FIFA Secretary General).

Each judge was asked to give marks to all the shortlisted logos and in the end all the marks were added together and eventually the design created by the Brazilian design agency Africa, was declared the winner.
